About Me
My journey in cybersecurity
My Background
I'm a master's degree student in Computer Engineering with a strong passion for cybersecurity, with a focus on penetration testing, and embedded systems. I'm currently preparing for the LPIC and OSCP certifications, while actively participating in Capture The Flag (CTF) competitions as both a hobby and a continuous learning strategy.
I was honored to represent my university in the CyberChallenge.IT national finals, where I collaborated with top national talent to solve real-world cyber defense problems. Outside of competitions, I sharpen my skills on platforms like HackTheBox, focusing on realistic infrastructure and red team simulations.
In parallel, I’m part of a Formula SAE team, where I developed the firmware for our race car’s dashboard — an experience that pushed my skills in embedded systems, real-time data handling, and performance-critical C/C++ development.
Currently, I'm part of a nationally funded research project, where I’m designing and implementing an Intrusion Detection System (IDS) for industrial control systems (ICS). This project bridges my passion for cyber-physical systems with real-world impact on infrastructure security.
Professional Experience
IDS Development for Industrial Systems
Università degli Studi di Messina | 12/2024 - Present
- Developed, together with a team at the University of Messina, an Intrusion Detection System that analyzes hardware fingerprints of devices, with a current accuracy of 93% and a recall of 98%, available on GitHub
- Currently developing machine learning models for assessing and fixing ModBus/TCP and CanBus Protocol vulnerabilities
- Developed a ModBus/TCP comprehensive dataset for signal analysis available on GitHub
Dashboard Designer and Developer - Zancle E-Drive Formula SAE Team
Università degli Studi di Messina | 05/2024 - 09/2024
- Designed the UI and the firmware for the STM32 dashboard that is now utilized in the university's official Formula SAE team’s car
- Enabled real-time display of tire temperature, engine status, and lap times, improving driver situational awareness
- Integrated CAN bus data streams and implemented fail-safe mechanisms in embedded C
LLM Training and Fine-Tuning - SanTO Project
Shibaura Institute of Technology, Tokyo | 10/2023 - 02/2024
- Designed a framework in Python to extract and manipulate data using pandas
- Trained and Fine-Tuned a Large Language Model to implement into SanTO functionalities.
- Greatly Improved the SanTO project robot capabilites (polls from users report up to 80%) to answer questions and provide advice.
